Melbourne to Perth

Holidaying in this technological age is somewhat testing.

Oh so much to pack.

And with weight restrictions and all – well, there’s a lot to consider.

The key consideration for me is to ensure that I don’t disappoint you, my readers of this blog.

Yep… I’m doing this for you.

Given we have a 20kg limit on one of the flights we have scheduled, is there anything here that I can leave out?

Nope.

After packing and repacking, I managed to get it down to 26kg, so it all will boil down to my ability to talk my way through the airport staff in Zimbabwe at Harare Airport.   That will be our fourth flight.

So not too long to wait to find out how that all turns out.

Putting that behind us now, we’re off.

Melbourne airport is wet and cold.  A number of flights to Sydney have been cancelled, and the announcement tells passengers that those affected by the cancellations should find accommodation in Melbourne- there’s no ability to get them out of Melbourne today (This announcement was made at about 4:30pm, and there were at least 3 or 4 flights cancelled on the display at that time).

Poor Sydney-siders having to spend an unscheduled night in Melbourne!

Our Virgin flight to Perth is fine and on-time.
We get on board the A330-200, and immediately toast ourselves to enjoying a great holiday trip to Africa.

My first “job” after downing the champagne was to pick a movie.

154 movies to choose from.

Well… it was an obvious choice for me.

OMG… I was in tears for 80% of the show.

I know… who’s a sick puppy?

Oh well… the flight time passed pretty quickly, and before we knew it, we disembarked in Perth airport.

Crowds were waiting at the Emirates boarding gates – their flight was cancelled, and they had to spend 24 hours in Perth!

Our flight South African Airways flight, however, is on time… here I am passing our 3-hour wait time by writing to you.

Soooo… I hope you are well… Next time I write to you, I’ll be in Johannesberg.
Bye for now.
